The Music Department features active band, choir, orchestral and jazz
programs with many award-winning performing ensembles. At the high
school level, the Concert Band, Jazz Ensembles, Marching Band, Choir,
Orchestra, and Chamber Ensembles have all won numerous awards in recent
years. In recognition of outstanding achievement, both high schools have
been recently cited as Grammy Signature Schools. In addition, East
Meadow has been recognized as one of the Best 100 Communities for Music
Education in the nation. The district is also the recipient of the
prestigious NYSSMA Presidential Citation Award.
Due to the COVID-19 virus, the East Meadow School District has decided to cancel the 2020 Summer Music Program. Although we are disappointed by this decision, please understand that our primary responsibility is the safety of our students and the East Meadow Community. Summer Music is not only an important and enriching experience for our students, but it has been part of a fine tradition here in East Meadow for many years. We all look forward to the return of Summer Music in 2021.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the Summer Music Program, please feel free to contact the East Meadow Music & Art office at 516-478-5546
The music department adheres to national and state curricular standards
and is committed to introducing its students to technology and a broad
range of musical experiences. To this end, both high schools have
state-of-the-art music computer labs and offer technology-based music
theory courses as well as music production and recording classes.
