Governor Andrew Cuomo has announced that New York school facilities will remain closed for the remainder of the 2019-20 academic year.  The Governor will make a decision about summer school by the end of May. Once these recommendations are made public, decisions regarding the Driver's Education programs for Spring 2020 and Summer 2020 will be shared by the the East Meadow School District. Until then, we appreciate your patience during this challenging time and hope that you and your families are safe.

4/6/20

As per New York State DTSE, the East Meadow School District has received guidance regarding the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic for our Spring 2020 Driver’s Education students.

The guidelines provided by NYSDTSE allow school districts flexibility to allow students to finish their programs. Some additional options may include:

  • Possible use of online instruction (via district vendor) to assist students in meeting the 24-hour requirements for classroom instruction.  This option will only be available to students who have completed 18  hours or  more of classroom instruction.

  • Students may complete their Spring 2020 laboratory instruction  during  the summer 2020 session or the fall 2020 semester.

Additional information will be provided as soon as it become available.   Until then, we appreciate your patience during this challenging time and hope that you and your families are safe.

Please check back for further updates.
