We are thrilled to share some wonderful news with you! Starting this school year, all students in the East Meadow School District will be eligible for free meals through the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), a federal program administered by the state.
All students enrolled at East Meadow UFSD are eligible to receive a healthy breakfast and lunch at school at no charge to your household each day of the 2024-2025 school year. No further action is required of you. Your child(ren) will be able to participate in these meal programs without having to pay a fee or submit an application.
Students are eligible to receive one free breakfast and one free lunch. Second meals and A la Carte items such as snacks and water will be available for purchase. We encourage families to register for MySchoolBucks.
Breakfast and lunch menus can be found at https://www.fdmealplanner.com/
Comments regarding the breakfast and lunch programs should be directed to the Director of School Lunch, W.T. Clarke High School, 740 Edgewood Drive, Westbury, N.Y. 11590, or you can call the director at 516-876-7440 to discuss the programs.
The FSMC shall make substitutions in the required food components of the meal pattern if individually participating children are unable, because of medical or other special dietary needs, to consume such foods. Such substitutions shall be made only when supported by a statement from a recognized medical authority for a child with a disability which substantially limits one or more major life activities, which includes how the disability restricts the diet, the major life activity affected by the disability recommended alternate foods and foods that must be omitted from the child’s diet. The SFA shall notify the FSMC of any special dietary needs. The U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) nondiscrimination regulation (7 CFR 15b), as well as the regulations governing the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program, make it clear that substitutions to the regular meal must be made for children who are unable to eat school meals because of their disabilities, when that need is certified by a recognized medical authority.
If your child needs a substitute meal, please contact the Director of School Lunch at 516-876-7440.
