Parkway CARES: Building Character and Community
At Parkway School, we believe that developing strong character is just as important as academic success. That’s why we are excited to introduce Parkway C.A.R.E.S., our character education initiative for the 2024-2025 school year. Parkway C.A.R.E.S. stands for Cooperation, Assertiveness, Responsibility, Empathy, and Self-Control—key traits that help our students grow into kind, confident, and responsible individuals.
This initiative is designed to support our students' emotional well-being, foster positive relationships, and create a strong sense of community throughout our school. Using engaging lessons and daily discussions, students will explore each of the CARES traits and learn how to apply them in their everyday lives. Teachers will integrate these concepts into classroom routines and activities, ensuring a consistent and meaningful approach to social-emotional learning.
A key part of Parkway C.A.R.E.S. is our "Caught Caring" program, which recognizes students who exemplify these important traits. When a student is seen demonstrating cooperation, assertiveness, responsibility, empathy, or self-control, their name will be displayed outside Dr. Skolnik’s office as a celebration of their positive actions.
By working together—students, teachers, and families—we can create a school environment where kindness, respect, and responsibility thrive. We look forward to seeing our students grow through Parkway C.A.R.E.S. and appreciate the support of our entire school community in making this program a success!
Below, you will find links to our virtual assemblies and parent newsletters, which provide additional resources and updates on how we are implementing Parkway C.A.R.E.S. throughout the school year. We encourage families to explore these materials and join us in reinforcing these important character traits at home.
