On June 23, W.T. Clarke High School seniors reflected on the past four years while thinking about their futures during the 2023 commencement ceremony at the school’s gymnasium.
The graduates proudly processed into the gymnasium to the sound of the classic “Pomp and Circumstance.” They were accompanied by the East Meadow Board of Education, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kenneth A. Card Jr., central and district administrators, Principal Timothy Voels, and W.T. Clarke administration, faculty and staff.
Valedictorian Matthew Vo, salutatorian Shreejita Satpathy and Class President Amanda Abbatiello reflected on four unforgettable years at Clarke.
“Whether you choose to become a doctor or a music producer, remember that in the end, the key to success lies in what makes you happy,” Vo said. “Today marks the beginning of our journey on the road to happiness.”
“Like many of us, I’m a little nervous about the future, but I’m also excited to see what we will accomplish,” Satpathy said. “Embrace the uncertainty that you’re feeling right now, because it’s normal to feel that way. Enjoy this moment and enjoy all of your success. Just remember that we’ve done so many incredible things just to make it to this day.”
Following the graduates’ addresses, Dr. Card and Board of Education President Alisa Baroukh each gave commencement addresses.
“Today concludes a significant and wonderful chapter of your life and an equally significant and wonderful chapter is about to begin,” Dr. Card said. “May the lessons learned at W.T. Clarke High School serve you well.”
The presentation of diplomas followed, with each student being called by name to be recognized for their successful completion of high school. As the students began their recession from the gymnasium, after receiving their diplomas, the crowd roared with applause for the new W.T. Clarke High School alumni.
The district would like to extend their most sincere congratulations to each of these students and their families and wishes them success and luck in their future endeavors.
