On Nov. 18, several flutists in the East Meadow School District attended the Long Island Flute Club's annual FluteFest at Walter G. O'Connell Copiague High School.
The event consisted of morning ensemble workshops, masterclasses and exhibits dedicated to fostering the next generation of flutists. Students from all over Long Island in grades 4-12 participated in the event, which culminated in a performance of flute ensemble works at each level. Mrs. Rode, one of W.T. Clarke Middle School’s band directors, attended the festival as a co-chairperson and performed with our students.
The district commends this year’s student participants, and looks forward to having its flutists participate once again next year.
