On March 1, 99 students from the W.T. Clarke High School Orchestra program attended a performance of the New York City Ballet at the David H. Koch Theatre in Lincoln Center.
After enjoying dinner at Turnstyle Underground Market in Columbus Circle, Clarke’s students saw a dazzling performance of four ballets: three by George Balanchine, the company's founding choreographer, and one by Christopher Wheeldon, who is the director and choreographer of the current Broadway musical “MJ.” The New York City Ballet is among the top ballet companies in the world and is accompanied live by the New York City Ballet Orchestra.
Students got to experience a live performance with pre-performance discussion following Balanchine's philosophy of “hearing the dance and seeing the music” curated by Clarke’s orchestra teacher Mr. Gregory Krajci.
