Fifth graders at Meadowbrook Elementary School in East Meadow recently showcased their skills in poetry and storytelling during the school’s Poetry Open Mic celebration.
Students studied numerous forms of poetry leading up to the celebration such as apostrophe, rhyme scheme, anaphora, villanelle, implied metaphor, list poem, parallel structure and tone poems. Teachers, classmates, district administrators, Principal Danielle Lasher and Assistant Principal Meredith Broxmeyer were in attendance as they snapped their fingers to commend each poet.
