On Dec. 17, Barnum Woods Elementary School in East Meadow celebrated the Nassau County Police Department during a special schoolwide assembly.

Coordinated by School Advisers Ms. Sara Goodson and Ms. Adriana Guglielmo, Barnum Woods partnered with nonprofit organization “Beyond the Badge” to collect thank you cards for local law enforcement members with the hopes of bringing them some much needed holiday cheer. As a result, the Barnum Woods school family successfully donated 1,576 cards.

During the assembly, students met with different members of the NCPD such as the K-9 unit, mounted unit, highway unit and special operations teams. Each member was introduced to a roaring audience of students in the school’s gymnasium. Afterwards, students got to tour some of the NCPD’s police cars and armored vehicles.

The district thanks the Nassau County Police Department for their efforts in making the East Meadow school community a safe place.
