Clarke High School and East Meadow High School who were awarded post-season athletic honors of All-County or greater were recognized during the East Meadow Board of Education’s April 9 meeting at the Salisbury School.

In addition to the outstanding individuals who were recognized at the board meeting, the district would also like to commend all of the student-athletes, coaches, administrators and parents who all play such a vital role in not only running, but maintaining successful athletics programs.

To highlight a few programs, the East Meadow boys and girls indoor track teams both won conference championships this year. For the boys track team, this marks the 10th time in 12 years that they have captured the conference championship, and for the girls, it is the fourth consecutive conference championship in winter track. East Meadow was the only Long Island team to sweep the Boys and Girls Conference Championships, which is a truly amazing accomplishment.

The boys and girls bowling teams from East Meadow also both won conference championships. The boys basketball team at East Meadow came up just short, losing in the Nassau County Championship. Winter competitive cheerleading teams from Clarke and East Meadow both placed second in Nassau County, and the Clarke cheerleading team placed eighth nationally, marking the first time in program history that Clarke has placed on the national level.

The district congratulates all of those teams on amazing seasons. All of the district’s winter teams played with pride and represented the East Meadow school community with class and sportsmanship.
