ASL Art Competition Picture

The National American Sign Language Honor Society (ASLHS) recently concluded its highly anticipated Chuck Baird Memorial Art Competition, inviting students nationwide to create original artwork that authentically captured the essence of the Deaf community's experiences, traditions, and values. Among the participants were six talented students from Woodland, Clarke HS, and East Meadow HS, who seamlessly blended their artistic skills with a profound understanding of Deaf Culture cultivated in the classroom. Amidst fierce competition with over 200 submissions from across the United States, Angelina Vogel emerged as the first-place winner. Angelina's winning piece masterfully depicted the catalyst of Deaf Education in America, set against the backdrop of Gallaudet University.  Congratulations Angelina!
