To paraphrase a famous elf, "the best way to spread holiday cheer is singing (and playing) loud for all to hear!"
Last week, the McVey Mighty Musicians took center stage to put on a once-in-a-lifetime performance. The Mrs. Kelly-led band, the Ms. McNamee-led orchestra, and the Mrs. Tsouristakis-led chorus dazzled the audience with their beautiful music. "Jingle Bells," "Into the Unknown," Tschaikovsky's "March of the Nutcracker," and even a song in Latin were just some of the musical pieces performed that night. The ancient Romans would have been very proud to see Latin included in the concert!
Better than all of the music being played were the smiles, sense of accomplishment, and pure joy that were apparent on students, parents, and teachers alike. McVey students clearly have an appreciation for music, and seeing just how many students participate in band, chorus, and orchestra highlights the dedication to this fine art.
Bono once said, "music can change the world because it can change people." I think it is fair to say that many people were changed for the better after last week's performance.
