East Meadow’s ‘harmonious celebration’ of music at the Tilles Center

Scores of musically talented students from the East Meadow School District took center stage at LIU Post’s Tilles Center for the Performing Arts on March 6 for the district’s annual music festival.

The districtwide festival captivated an audience of friends, family, faculty and administrators. The event featured performances by students districtwide as chorus students from East Meadow and W.T. Clarke high schools, Woodland and W.T. Clarke middle schools, and all five elementary schools came together for a dynamic performance.

“Music, and especially vocal music, has the unique ability to connect us, to inspire us, and to express what words alone cannot,” said Superintendent of Schools Kenneth Rosner. “Today, we gather here to not only witness the incredible performances from our wonderful students, but to embrace the shared passion that brings singers, musicians and music lovers together. Let’s dive into this harmonious celebration of the human spirit.”

Each group of chorus students were led by renowned composers who rehearsed with the vocalists in the days leading up to their remarkable performance.

“We are absolutely thrilled to be back at the Tilles Center, and we are grateful for the opportunity to showcase our incredible students,” said Dr. Kelly Nixon, the district’s director of music and art.

The district commends these musically talented students for their hard work, diligence and collaboration.
