Members of the East Meadow School District decorated puzzle pieces, infinity symbols and wore different shades of blue in recognition of Autism Awareness Month on April 5.
The puzzle pattern reflects the complexity of the autism spectrum while the rainbow-colored infinity symbol indicates that neurological differences are a natural occurrence. Blue is associated with a calm feeling and represents acceptance for people on the spectrum.
Students in the district will continue to recognize Autism Awareness Month through a variety of activities.
