Sixth graders at Woodland Middle School in East Meadow went back in time as they celebrated Greek mythology during the schoolās annual Festival Games on Dec. 16.
The Festival Games is a day of team building activities inspired by āThe Lightning Thief,ā the first novel in Rick Riordanās āPercy Jackson and the Olympiansā series. It was designed as a day to celebrate teamwork and to participate in healthy competition between the four sixth grade clusters ruled by Ares (Cluster 1), Poseidon (Cluster 2), Athena (Cluster 3) and Zeus (Cluster 4),
Students worked together with their teams to transform their classrooms into cabins, each depicting their respective Greek god or goddess. During the day, a variety of grade-level activities were planned, including, Capture the Flag and trivia games such as āItās All Greek to Me,ā āI Vaporized My Pre-Algebra Teacherā and āOlympian Family Feud.ā
At the end of the games, Team Zeus was awarded a trophy for earning the most points.
