The W.T. Clarke High School Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Orchestra Director Mr. Gregory Krajci, competed in the National Orchestra Festival hosted at the American String Teachers Association's annual national conference in Atlanta, Georgia from March 20-23.
The competition hosted more than 30 schools participating in different competitive tracks. Clarke’s Chamber Orchestra was a part of 20 schools in the high school string competition, in which they were adjudicated by three esteemed educators in the field and worked with a local clinician to enhance their performance. The students also met and spoke with composer Marcus Norris, who wrote one of the pieces they played on their program, explored the conference's exhibit hall of vendors, met students and heard different student and adult orchestras from across the country. Additionally, the students went to the World of Coca-Cola Museum in Centennial Park and attended a performance of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.
The W.T. Clarke High School Chamber Orchestra is proud to have been the first ensemble to be accepted and participate in the National Orchestra Festival and is grateful to the East Meadow school community and administration for their support in this journey.
