In honor of P.S. I Love You Day, the Barnum Woods students and staff wore the color PURPLE to foster kindness and educate others that mental health is just as important as physical health. Students participated in various P.S. I Love You Day activities throughout the week, including writing kindness letters to their peers and teachers as well as writing about their own personal feelings and emotions. 💜💜💜
Fifth graders put their technology skills to the test when they took the "Google Slides Winter Challenge" in computer class today! The students' abilities to utilize the Google slides tools that they have learned with Mrs. Kirichenko were quite impressive!
Author, Maria Wen Adcock, visited Barnum Woods School to present her book, It’s Chinese New Year, Curious George. Students enjoyed this engaging and interactive program featuring everyone’s favorite monkey, Curious George!

Today, Bright Star Theater visited Barnum Woods and had the students in grades K-2 captivated with their stories of Aesop's famous fables in their performance of "Winter Fables". Thank you to the Barnum Woods PTA for bringing these amazing winter-inspired tales to our students.

Barnum Woods Elementary School was recently named one of the top schools in all of NYS. Considering that there are approximately 4,850 public elementary schools in all of New York State, the fact that Barnum Woods made the list within the top 100 is, indeed, a phenomenal feat. Go Barnum Bobcats!

Smiles, laughter, cheers, and buzzers could be seen and heard today in the halls of Barnum Woods as students played their favorite game show… The Brain Challenge TV Game Show! The Brain Challenge TV Game Show is a “live” TV game show which is a combination of age-appropriate “Jeopardy,” “College Bowl,” and “Beat the Clock.” During this 45 minute program, students were asked questions in a fast-paced “lightning round” manner. The questions presented were a review of what the students are currently learning and what they have learned in class. Students also participated in challenges which tested their listening, dancing, hula-hooping, spelling, and math skills. All of the challenges promoted teamwork and sportsmanship. This assembly is definitely a fan-favorite of the students!

Mrs. Berry's fourth grade class has been studying the Iroquois Nation in Social Studies. After much research and discussions, students showed their knowledge of the Iroquois culture and way of living to construct miniature models of long houses. Stay tuned because there is more to come from the amazing, creative fourth graders at Barnum Woods!
